MATERIAL HAPPINESS

money, brands, stuff.

When I went shopping yesterday, I exactly knew what I wanted.
And I bought nothing of it.
Though I kinda became obessed with these things, which aren't expensive by the way, I ended up being disappointed because none of the shirts/shoes/whatever looked nice at me.

Can material things bring us down? Or up?
I guess so. Because, in general, even a nice meal sometimes is enough for us to be satisfied for a couple of hours. Or minutes.

When us girls buy an expensive mascara, these must-have-designer shoes or just some sweets that the lady in our favorite tv series owns too (hello maccarons. hello blair) we are happy. but why? in my opinion we like to allegedly enrich our life by things our role models or celebrities,  bosses or lady crushes have. And for us, their life looks way better than ours in the moment they're wearing their status symbols which, unfairly (?), symbolize a relaxed, classier or happier life from our points of view.

But do we really need this? Society, magazines and our social contacs tell us that the life we live in is good. And, lets be honest, me sitting on a laptop and you reading this from a screen obviously have good lifes. But does this automatically forbids us to wish something better? No. Not in my opinion. Because I think that it's important to face the fact you have a lot, and you should probably not bring forward the argument that other people have more than you when you feel like having more would be better. I guess it's pretty fair that the majority of people have to work hard for their success, though it does not come to everyone who would probably earn it. Or a 'better' life.

When I searched for 'material happiness' on the internet I was surprised because I didn't find any pictures of cars, expensive watches or houses somewhere on a white beach, which I actually expected to see. Now I'm aqsking myself - did I rated the world wrong? Am I the only one who is satisfied by a new shirt sometimes?
