WHY WE'RE DONE WITH CASTING SHOWS

And the other crap tv channels want us to see.

So in Germany, we had the 'Germany's next top model' season finale last Saturday. And, the German version of 'dancing with the stars' called 'lets dance' also ended this week. And now? Do we feel empty? Or like somebody took the sense of our life? No. We're happy that nothing forces us to spend our time in front of our tv anymore.

Times have changed in terms of casting shows and these ones where the audience has to vote. We're all tired of hearing 'When you want to see candidate X next week singing blabla, please call number xxx'. But why? Of course, with time everything becomes boring, and in times where we have a lot of bad actors in bad written pseudo-real-life documentations, we want something sophisticated that we're actually interested in. But do we get it? No.
Not everyone wants to see survivors in the desert. Or conservationists who travel to Norway for the 2745th time only to watch bears killing fish. Of course, this might be interesting. But not if you're ill and want to be entertained all day; or on an evening you want to relax on and expect something minimally cultural, exciting or interesting.
And I guess that's what makes new stuff more successful.
There's a lot of new ideas on German television; but its sad that it's badly translated into action.  Of course there are innovative ideas for the younger generations, you can watch Joko & Klaas weekly doing shit. And that's just one example. But if we're honest we have to commit that this is no educational show, it's entertainment.
For a couple of people this might be enough and I have to say that I enjoy this show too, but it's not enough to keep society cultured and educated, is it? TV channels haven't understand yet that they play a huge part in society's education. Let's hope they will! Maybe that would be our chance to have some entertaining and sometimes even sophisticated TV shows in our prime time evenings.
